Research across the industry conducted by Skillset has highlighted a short-fall of qualified talent in certain craft and technical disciplines and these will make up the first training courses offered by the Academy.

The Academy will develop and deliver new entrants training programmes incorporating Apprenticeship schemes; provide a Trainee Placement Scheme to offer skilled trainees to Skills Investment Fund (SIF) paying productions at subsidised rates; and administer qualifications within the film craft and technical departments.
